‘Winning’ a snowboard video premiere ain’t no joke. Especially if you’re in Europe and competing against such mad men as Halldór and Eiki Helgason, Sage Kotsenburg, Kevin Backstrom, Tor Lundstrom, Mark Wiitanen, and Stan the personality at the premieres for DayummIsland Born, and Vacation Forever.  (all viewable by clicking)

Things get loose real fast.

Let’s look into what “winning the night” really means. The term comes from the game’s unintentional creator and always a potential champion, Halldór Helgason:

“The only rule of winning the night is there are absolutely no rules. In fact, a true winner understands that the more dire the circumstance, the more rich an opportunity to capture the win. What starts as a bad decision to order a spicy kabob, could end in a game-winning dookie in the middle of a dark eastern European street. For starters, I do not want to give the impression that a win is constituted by the amount of alcohol consumed. A win derives from rogue actions taken in moments when they are least expected. It could be argued that “winning the night” is more of a sport than snowboarding itself. It involves inventive strategy, endurance, and several players.”

So what are the degrees of winning, the key to authenticity, and other fine details…
