What Was Learned At Skateboardings First International Academic Conference? | Mapping out the structures that skating is composed of + around

 

Pushing Boarders was skateboardings first academic panel discussions held in London in early June with some of skateboardings “smrtest” journalists, culture builders, and even the odd pro/ex-pro or two. Topics included diversity, the challenges of writing about it, gender-identity, building skate-friendly cities, and more. It’s as if skateboarding is a real culture now taken seriously by all walks of life. Look at us go!

 

What it was:

A unique line-up of pro-skaters, community groups, NGOs, policy-makers and academics present a series of talks and Q&As exploring the social impact of skateboarding worldwide
