Another week goes by in the Jason Jessee Nazi drama that draws in not just himself, but brands and many other older skaters. Boil The Ocean decided to jump into the fray.

A bigger question remains for the skateboard industry generally, which up until the past 36 hours mostly looked as though it would move along and bury the matter beneath a pile of fresh Instagram clips, capsule collections and good times with the homies. The skateboard magazines by and large have had nothing to say, neither have the loquacious podcasts. Between Dave Mayhew’s post-retirement video part and a boardslide to darkslide to boardslide driveway clip, Skateline NBD — which one could imagine going in on a topic like this — skipped it.

Thankfully – Skateboarding – and the world are diverse. Those diversities – are what make everything so rad. Homophobia, Racism, Anti-Semitism, Sexism, Ageism – all of it – should have no place in our world. The most recent events surrounding Jason and the questions they raise have deeply affected me. For me, this is less about him but it's more about myself and introspection. Any form of racism doesn't belong in our community of skating and I have long worked to support that belief. It troubles me to realize now that I had somehow let my skate fanboyism thinking override my beliefs and cloud my vision of what someone connected to us had been into. I should have looked deeper into the few things I had heard about their past to be sure we weren't giving any of that stuff a pass in skating. I should have been more responsible to my convictions, my core beliefs and acted on those. I regret that. I am forever learning along this journey. I always want to do better for skateboarding. What I learned from this will definitely stay with me, front and center. I will be vigilant and work even harder to make this place we share, through skateboarding, a better place for everyone. Thank you skateboarding.
