There’s not much more we love over at Board Rap than the intersection of pop culture and boarding. Specifically skateboarding. As the legendary Jeff Grosso says, “Skateboarding dictates what’s cool.” That statement gets cooler as the years march on. Listen to Grosso reflect on how skatings tentacles claw deep into popular culture crossover.

I first met this young man when I was 10 years old. I have been profoundly inspired by his grace and power on and off his skateboard. Watched him stand like a god above the adoring throngs. And… I’ve seen him fall, flailing, deep into the muck and the mire of his own ego. His story, his life, is like some Greek cautionary tale, filled with the richness of life. It is a story of redemption, at any cost, a story of love. I have bore witness to his highs and his lows. Sat fractured with him in those dark places, only to watch him rise like a phoenix from the ashes of his used to be’s. To become something more… A husband, a father, a son, and a friend. I don’t know? This sounds like a fuck’n eulogy more than a birthday post? But, I’m an emo love child and christian’s influence on me, gives me pause to reflect and wax poetic. Keep scrolling if you’re so inclined. Ha! I simply wanted to say, thank you, and I love you. It has been one hell of a ride, and it’s not over yet… Happy birthday my friend! 50!!! Who woulda thunk?
