Moody Portraits of Pro Skaters | “When people hear I shot Anthony they are much more receptive.”
Kristina Patterson aka @BadPuppa is putting out some of the most personal portraits of professional skateboarders out there. Characters like Dill, AVE, and The Muska don’t just sit for anyone.
What are some memorable shoots you’ve done in the past? What happened?
Wow, I can tell you almost all my shoots for this book have been memorable and unpredictable. A very interesting and diverse group of guys. Jason Jessee and Jason Dill had my head spinning. Very talkative and super funny. On one of my shoots Jason Jessee became my helper for the day as I shot Torey Pudwill and Rick Howard. I was shooting during a video shoot and Jason was going around recruiting people for me to photograph. No one says no to Jason Jessee.
I really enjoyed shooting Anthony Van Engelen. Even though having his portrait taken isn’t his favorite thing he really gave me the time to work with him and capture some powerful images. I call him my gateway to shooting a lot of other guys. When people hear I shot Anthony they are much more receptive.
