If we had to pick a skateboard crew that would be featured in both The New York Times as well as skating in Saint Laurent and other fancy garments for GQ in the same year we wouldn’t have guess it’d be GX1000. Sure enough those lovely San Francisco hill bombers are doing it up in the mainstream. Hopefully they got to keep some of the clothes. P-Spliff’s outfit above is flossing at over $2500 for the Laurent jacket and $360 for the shorts by Cerruti 1881, which pair nicely with some Huf. Haters gonna hate, but “skate fashion” is happening, so roll with it and get the goods while you can. Just ask Neckface.

Sample:

The San Francisco skate crew GX1000 is a loosely organized gang of misfit skateboarders who are bound together mostly by a shared appetite for positive vibes, high speeds, and copious amounts of Northern California’s famous high-potency marijuana. Some of the crew, whose online video releases have made them a sensation, are pro skaters. Others are amateurs. All of them are unflinchingly confident and freakishly physically gifted.

To the extent that the crew is organized at all, it centers around Ryan Garshell, the 30-year old skate filmer whose nickname combines his last initial with the model of camera he uses: The Sony VX1000.

Garshell moved to San Francisco in 2008 and has become a skate world hero for his short video edits that mostly feature insane, jaw dropping hill-bombs. Now he is Thrasher Magazine’s in-house shooter, has a gig doing videography for Converse’s skate program, and is increasingly developing the GX1000 clothing label with his partner, Stephen McClintock. What started as a small run of merch to promote Garshell’s film projects—150 logo t-shirts and 50 hoodies—has quickly become a full-blown brand that does brisk online business and is sold at skate shops like Supreme Paris.

“I never started off thinking we’d make a brand,” Garshell says. But McClintock saw the opportunity to build something unique with his friend and has focused on production and distribution so that Garshell can concentrate on the videos.
