Fetish Photography + Skateboarding: A Perfect Match | w/ Ian Reid + Girl Skateboards
If you listened to Tim O’Connor’s podcast with Ian Reid and Mike Carroll then you are well aware of the crazy fetish scene that he has infiltrated using his hood skateboard roots. It’s been a wild ride!
A wild ride that has seen numerous creative outlets including this fetish photography collaboration with Girl Skateboards, who have a solid history of working with some of the most creative people in the world like co-owner Spike Jonze.
Ian Reid, notorious creator of the craziest skate video ever – 2005’s Sex, Hood, Skate & Videotape – had this to say:
“I was always involved in subcultures. Remember when skateboarding was a subculture? (Laughs) When I wrote graffiti it was a subculture. When I dressed a certain way it was a subculture…all I did was document it and those involved in it…think about the first time you saw a kid fly down some stairs or grind a big rail on a skateboard that is far more shocking to most people I think than some of the things I photograph.”
Let’s make skateboarding a subculture again…
