Exploring the World w/ a Skateboard, a Camera, + an Open Mind | Daniel Zvereff travels the planet alone

What is it about people that have natural abilities on a skateboard that it seems like they are talented in other areas of life as well. Daniel Zvereff is one of those people. As someone who used to rip (and most likely still does) on a skateboard, he used his skate travels to get more into photography and hasn’t looked back.

Daniel wrote a brief article on his path for Huck Magazine where he discusses almost losing his mind in New York City, taking a trip to the Arctic with some nearly extinct infrared film, which ended up being the trip that ultimately put him on the map. More so than most photographer there’s something about Daniel’s work that really touches the pulse of what it feels like to roam around the world solo.

“Exploring without any direction, falling into whatever comes your way, is an art form in itself.

I also think the more you travel, the less you know. When you really get out there and dig for stories, you discover that there are so many viewpoints that it’s almost impossible to have any real sense of the world.

It can be hard to take in at first: to realise you’re a little piece of nothing.”

This is @misterzvereff taking over Huck for the next few days, sharing work from my extensive travels all over our incredible planet. In this image, a man in Jodhpur, India, tries out my skateboard. For the past 14 years I have been traveling on a skateboard to metropolises everywhere, as it’s an art form that evolved from exploring and interacting with a world covered in cement. Last year, along with my friends at the @visualtraveling crew, we skated three cities in the largest Indian state, Rajasthan (“Land of Kings”): New Delhi, the massive and insanely crowded capital; Jaipur, better known as “The Pink City”, which once housed the royal family in the famously opulent City Palace; and, finally, Jodhpur, “The Blue City”, located in the Thar desert, made famous by Steve McCurry’s extensive photographic work showcasing the city’s vibrant narrow alleyways. *** Read about Daniel's adventures at huckmagazine.com #Huck57
