Cult Skate Videographer Documented Charlottesville Hate + Chaos | “It was inevitable.”
Ian Reid did his time in trenches of skateboard culture, releasing the cult classic Sex, Hood, Skate, + VideotapeΒ Girl X fetish photographyamongst other things before moving more towards the fringes of sex and bondage while still collaborating with the skate industry (, etc.).
He ain’t stopping there however. Ian continues to entrench himself in the trenches and he made the move to Charlottesville to document the hate and chaos that ultimately led to an Alt-Right Nazi plowing his car into a group of counter protesters – killing one – and Trump siding with the hate and further America’s segregation and decline. Heavy.
Ian was interviewed on NBC News and many of this photographs show the carnage. It’s always really interesting to us to see people from the skateboard world expanding their interests out, but holding onto that ‘fuck it’ skate mentality. Few do it better than Ian.
