A History Of Skateboard Shoes By Year | From classic 1921 Converse to futuristic 2017 Nike SB’s

Cons. Still looking as good on skateboarders feet today as they did back in 1921. Simple Footwear (remember them?) released a little history of skateboarding that showcases a main choice per year since the beginning. No they didn’t pick themselves.

The bulk of the choices go to Converse, Nike, Vans, etnies, DC, etc. While people may argue over each years representative it does give a great overall view of how far we’ve come and the long arc in which we came full circle. It’s not just the nineties that are back…

Sample:

“The original Converse Chuck Taylor All Star is a timeless favourite, worn by skaters as early as the 60s and loved for the classic vulcanised outsole and ankle support. What makes them unique is their unisex design, with over 800,000,000 pairs sold around the world. Once a premier shoe of elite basketball players, “Chucks” are named after the basketballer Charles ‘Chuck’ H. Taylor’s. In 1932 his signature was added to the ankle patch as a thank you to his dedication towards the design and sale of the shoe.”
