A Cynics Guide to Water-Sports aka Not Quite Surfing | “It is not socially acceptable to do anything Laird does.”
What’s worse than a crowded surf session? A crowded surf session full of non-surfers. More specifically boogies, SUP’s, Laird, and hydrofoils. No thanks.
Below is a brief description of all of the above offenders from the witty cats at Surf Europe.
Sample:
“Hell is other people,” Jean-Paul Sartre once famously wrote.
But, then again, he also wrote that “the ideal limit of aquatic sports is waterskiing,” so we should probably discount Sartre as a reliable guide.
Perhaps what he really meant to say was “hell is other surfers”. Or, better still, “hell is other surfers who have ditched surfboards in favour of stand-up paddleboards, descended en masse upon line-ups worldwide, and proceeded to take all the waves.” Yes, that sounds more like it.
