Steve Caballero Just Found Out Snowboarders Name Tricks “Cab”
How frickin’ cool is Steve Caballero. Besides inventing the ‘cab’ and having probably the highest selling skate shoe pro model of all-time in the Vans halfcab, it’s genuine stoked as shown in this old Insta post that make him a real likable dude. Did he really just find out in March that snowboarders have been using ‘cab’ in naming snowboard tricks since probably the mid-80’s? If so that’s the best thing we’ve heard all day.
“So I’m flippin through the channels on TV and I stumble upon a snowboarding event called the Burton US open “men’s slope style” in Vail, Colorado and it just makes me giggle to hear tricks like “halfcab on backside 360 out on the rail” and a “cab 1260 melon” on this snowboarders runπ it’s crazy how much skateboarding has influenced the sport of snowboarding and how the same tricks have found their way into the slopes and in the snow π I never would have thought that something I invented in a pool back in 1980 (a fakie 360 Ollie) would find its way into another extreme sport that is of modern snowboarding today. Makes me smile hearing my name on almost everyone’s run in this event… amazing π”
