DIOR Taps Harrison Roach for Surf Doc Narrated by Johnny Depp | Fashion house thinks surfers embody the philosophy of ‘Sauvage’ $$$
Dior already ripped off skateboarding and now they are tapping into the surf market with Tales of the Wild by Sauvage. The mysterious and ‘authentic’ Johnny Depp is even involved some how. It’s not the first time high fashion has stooped down to our salty level. Years back Chanel channeled Danny Fuller to sell one of their scents in a commercial directed by Kathryn Bigelow of og Point Break fame. Rumor is that Danny made enough $$$ off those few days to put both his kids through school and much more. Meaning he probably made more from Chanel in days than off surf brands over years. Not bad. Take the money and run is what I say. Won’t be here forever.
Here’s some million dollar copy from Dior:
“Tales of the wild is a series of documentaries that takes us on an extraordinary journey into the lives of four authentic men, who embody the philosophy of Sauvage, in real life. Four portraits of the quest for freedom and meaning governed by a desire to transmit one’s passion.
What does being “Sauvage” mean today? Harrison Roach, Jakob von Plessen , Arthur Van Der Putten and Ethan Pringle; four inspiring characters who decided to radically change the course of their lives and reconnect with nature in four exceptional places of the world. From behind their camera, directors Clément Bauvais and Arthur de Kersauson capture the protagonists’ spiritual – almost mystical – relationship with their natural environment, and tell their stories in Solace, Gaucho, Aizkolari and El Capitan.”
This is what they had to say about Harrison Roach‘s clip:
“Far away from the surf business industry and competitions, Harrison was able to make a living out of his passion; surfing has become a lifestyle.
Every day, he drives alone hundreds of miles and braves one of the most dangerous wildlife in the world, seeking the wave he would be the only one to ride. A spiritual dialogue with the ocean.”
