Remember back in 2016 when Venice died and we wrote its eulogy? Well the war on gentrification is still being fought and Spanto of BornXRaised is on the front lines. So beat it kooks! Unless you want to answer to Spanto.

Unlock Tomorrow sat down with Spanto from BornXRaised to discuss how incarceration and gang injunctions were used to fuel gentrification in Venice. The short film, titled The War For Home is directed by Danny Dwyer and is part of the (RE)ENTER (RE)THINK (RE)STORE exhibit at the Cal State LA Fine Arts Gallery. Soundtrack done by Matthew Leeb
