The History of Snowboarding Media | Picking through the archives w/ Pat Bridges as print disappears
Since 1981 snowboarding has graced the fine pages of magazines after starting in skate mags. Volcom and Pat Bridges have started digging deep into the history of snowboard print media probably because every magazine title is sadly and quickly dying off. Good luck out there! Funny how magazines basically started to convince resort owners to allow snowboarders on the slopes. And even more funny, imagine a snowboarder on the cover of Thrasher today alongside snowboard contest results inside. How things have changed.
@snowboardermag has partnered with @volcomsnow to dive into their magazine archives and give our followers a glimpse into the pedigree of print in snowboarding and its role in shaping the culture around our sport. Episode 1 of Permanent Ink takes it all the way back to the early 80’s with Action Now, Thrasher, TW & SBDR. Click the link in our story to watch the full episode now.
