Luke Davis Cut From REEF | Did The International Party Boy Overdue It?

Luke Davis is famously known for his colourful hair, colourful personality, and famous friends. Not so much for his outstanding surfing ability. Although the stylish regular footer gets it done, his latest “contest retirement” video Velvet Joy didn’t exactly break him into the upper echelon of free surfers.

And now it seems his main supporter – REEF – have dropped him from the program. Did they use him for his good looks and Instagram followers and then toss him to the curb? Inside rumours point to animosity created inside the team dynamic. It’s no secret in surf marketing though that sex sells clothing more than talent alone, so whats the problem? Maybe he’s been spending too much time at music festivals and with The Cobra Snake? Or did his emotional music video performance as a naked human egg rub the shoulders of surfers hardcore the wrong way?

Regardless, Luke is no longer on the Ambassador page, so things aren’t looking good. Will he re-emerge as a famous male model à la Koa Smith? Or is it barista time for Mr. Grey?
