Snowboarders Getting Locked up | Nate Bozung + Kazu Kokubo sentenced to the clink
Who said snowboarders didn’t get up to no good? Former pro Nate Bozung went off his rocker back in 2018 and is now paying the price with a 12-day jail sentence amongst other things.
“Nathan Hale Bozung, a 38-year-old Heber man and former professional snowboarder, was ordered to serve 12 days in jail for a 2018 incident in which prosecutors said he held knives to a person’s throat and threatened to shoot another man while loading an AR-15-style weapon.
Bozung was sentenced Feb. 24 after pleading guilty to two class A misdemeanors: attempted aggravated assault and attempted purchase, transfer, possession or use of a firearm by a restricted person. According to court documents, those charges were reduced from third-degree felonies as part of a plea deal, while three additional misdemeanor counts and an infraction were dismissed.”
Kazu Kokubo is a totally different story, smuggling a few grams of weed from the US to Japan and now paying the price heavy.
“A court on Tuesday sentenced former Olympic snowboarder Kazuhiro Kokubo to three years in prison, suspended for four years, for smuggling cannabis from the United States.
The Tokyo District Court found the 31-year-old conspired with a male acquaintance, already found guilty, to smuggle around 57 grams of a cannabis product in December 2018 from the United States by hiding it using Express Mail Service to Tokyo in a package that arrived at Narita Airport.”
