eben sterling thrasher magazine sales ad director

Everyday there’s hundreds of skaters being interviewed and useless words being spewed. What about the people behind the scenes that have been there for years, have real stories to tell, and help create the very media that matters? One man who deserves to get his shine stepped out of the shadows for Skateboard Story. His name is Eben Sterling and he is the one-man show behind selling Thrasher Magazine. As big as Thrasher is it seems insane that one guy deals with every banner ad, sponsored content, social media buy, print ad, and more. What a G.

Some of the more interesting points brought up is why the demise of print is actually helping Thrasher on the newsstand, accusing The Berrics of hoarding their content, thoughts on “off-duty” models and pop stars wearing the gear, who they wouldn’t accept advertising from, and boss quotes like:

“We built that audience by connecting with skateboarders wherever they choose to view our content. It’s funny that we have over 2 million rabid Instagram followers, many of whom may have never bought a copy of the mag or even been to our website. Look at the number of likes and comments our posts receive. That is the indication of our reach. We only release real skateboard media, no fake marketing or ads dressed up as content.”
