‘Sea Of Mathilda’ El Fin | Heath Kirchart + Boosh complete their epic 2-month Mexican rowing adventure
They really did it. Heath Kirchart and Boosh finished their epic row of the Sea of Cortez without having much of a clue of what they were getting into. An inspiration to the everyday man!
The boys battles flying manta rays, sea gull shit strewn cliff jumps, flipped ATV’s, winds, waves, and much more to emerge victorious.
Sample:
The trip sounded like a suicide mission. We both had no clue about winds, beaches, harbors, tides, swells or anything else. Luckily we had the last, blurry version of google maps. It helped us see what was a “beach” and what was “rocks”. Kind of. Everyone had warned me about everything and I did little to no research.
…..
They say fear is contagious. I think confidence is too. I don’t think I saw Heath get scared at any point. His ability to just accept that whatever is going to happen will happen is something that really is rare. The worse the weather the more exciting it is.
Someone once offered to pull us into shore while we were battling terrible waves and winds. Even though we were completely wiped out he said no. When I asked him why he said it would invalidate everything we had worked so hard for. It wasn’t a pride thing, it was knowing that when we made it into shore it was all on us. No assistance*, no favors, just two guys making it happen.
I’m really proud that we actually made it. It was a once in a lifetime idea that we actually made a reality. Take care.
