Poler blew up quick outta Portland to take advantage of various hashtags like #Vanlife, #blessed, #campvibes, etc. They made “hipster” camping gear that wasn’t technically that good, but hit a lower price point, looked pretty dope, and had all the right people that rode boards on-board.

Just seven years later it has filed for bankruptcy. What happened? Well we don’t know for sure, but this old podcast with co-founder Kharma Vella gave us one side of the story right after he was ousted from the brand he helped start. It’s an older one, but just as relevant today.

If you are into the outdoors, you’ve most likely heard of Poler.  Their unique take on camping and adventure made the brand instantly  successful. All of it was started by Kharma Vella and his former best friend Benji.  Kharma is my guest this week and we talk coming up in the world of snowboarding, starting a brand, building it and watching the same brand destroy both his personal and professional life.  The podcast is Kharma’s side of a real-life tale that outlines what can happen  when you do business with friends.
