Danny Larsen always had one of our favorite styles in pro snowboarding because you could tell he was being true to himself and how he saw the culture. Now that he has taken that same Norwegian metal inspiration and transformed it into a life of art it still rings true. Red Bull put together a really cool look at the artist that Danny has become and how it’s not far off how he approached snowboarding.

Sample:

Danny’s early ‘work’ is awesome: funny and cartoonish with a distinctly occult, blood-spattered theme, as his snowboarding career slowly wound down the demand for his artwork gradually built up. But once he made the decision to quit riding professionally altogether, his art took over and the quality of the work increased exponentially. Clearly inspired by themes of nature and Norwegian folklore, Danny’s intricately crafted pointillist drawings are a world away from his early doodles and snowboarding in general, but the common thread that unites them is the profound sense of peace that comes with finding yourself alone on a mountain, surrounded by winter’s deep, cold, snowy embrace.
