Anna Gasser + Mark McMorris Win ESPY’s | Snowboarding is the big mainstream winner
Snowboarding was the big winner for action sports at the 2017 ESPY’s as Mark McMorris and Anna Gasser both took their respective divisions for being both extremely talented and extremely good looking.
If you don’t follow sports the ESPY’s are a pretty big thing in mainstream culture with all kinds of celebrities getting into it and Hollywood media and all that. Also of note is they beat out “action sports” athletes from every other sport. So good on Mark and Anna. Guess snowboarding is on top right now.
Mark beat out John John Florence (surf), Nyah Huston (skate), and Oystein Braaten (ski) for the award.
This past season was filled with many highs and a few lows for Mark who earned three X Games golds, two World Cup titles, and a Burton US Open win in Slopestyle. In March, Mark sustained a burly injury while filming in the backcountry. He is currently rehabbing and working hard to get back on track and has sights set on the 2018 Olympics for both slopestyle and big air.
Anna attended the ESPYs and got all dolled up for the grand affair held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.
“I can’t believe I’m holding this trophy in my hands,” Gasser said while accepting her award.
The 25-year-old beat out Kelly Sildaru (ski), Lacey Baker (skateboard), and Tyler Wright (surf), to earn the coveted award.
Gasser had herself one hell of a season and bagged four wins at five events, including gold in slopestyle at the Burton US Open, and gold in slope at X Games Norway.
