Heath Kirchart is perhaps Instagram’s greatest holdout. One of the only people that we wouldn’t mind a glimpse into his lifestyle and he refuses to play the game. Heath has always been the most cool.

But now he’s finally on social media and he comes bringing adventure. Sea Of Mathilda is the latest in a line of major “We’re Really Doing It” journeys from Heath and friends. They previously included biking from California to New York (despite the lack of bike experience), climbing El Cap in Yosemite (despite no climbing experience), and rowing down the Pacific side of Baja (despite no small craft experience and no, it wasn’t completed).

This time Boosh is along for the 2-months or so they are planning to spend in a little boat. Can’t wait to see how this one turns out. Luckily we can follow along on their website that even offers a live tracker.

If this doesn’t make you want to quit your job, pack a bag, and get into some wild adventure that’s way above your head then you should check your pulse.

Here are a few introductory words from Boosh who will be doing most of the writing from this trip as Heath is a man of few words:

“I’ve discovered over time that I’ve never been satisfied with the norm. Sure, things are nice having a steady job and living a comfortable life, but it never really appealed to me the way the unknown has.

So here we are now. When Heath asked me about this trip I immediately said yes. Why wouldn’t I? A chance to leave everything behind and go on a journey where nothing is guaranteed. It’s not a skate trip, it’s not a vacation; it’s an adventure. Neither of us know what lies ahead.

In the past two months since I’ve agreed to this I’ve heard more terrifying things about the Sea of Cortez than I’ve ever wanted to know about anything. We are as well prepared as we can be, but it still feels like we are not even halfway there.

If I think back on our friendship with me and Heath, I’m the more rational of the two. Which is terrifying. Well, rational in the sense of if a train is coming straight at us I’d say we probably should move, where he would stand until the last second still deciding if getting out of the way was worth it.

Last week I spent three days in a row not being able to sleep, because every time I would start to drift off the Red Demon (google it), Tiger Shark, or gigantic wave would wake me up. So why would we do something like this knowing there’s more than enough danger waiting before us?”
