Being blind and even going about the simplest of daily functions is mind blowing to anyone that has their vision. To skateboard using only touch and sound seems downright impossible. Skateboarder Dan Mancina is making it happen though. He is a true inspiration just like fellow blind skateboarder Marcelo Lusardi.

Dan knew since he was 13 that he was going to go blind from an eye disease at some point. It was over the last 5-years that it happened. Before that he was a sponsored skater, so that muscle memory transfers over into making tricks happen now. On top of the skate talk Dan also candidly answers any other questions you’d want to know about being blind: sex, pooping, having no idea what Kim Kardasian looks like, and much more.

“Dan became blind over the past few years, and he’s the first blind person I’ve ever actually talked to about what it’s like being blind. Dan still skates, hunts, and takes his girlfriend out on dates, he just does it all without being able to see. He’s not (as I stupidly presumed) embarrassed about being blind. He would never spend time worrying about that. So when we talked, he spared no detail about the logistics of doing everything blind. From skating a box with a cane to making sure his ass is clean, Dan explained how he doesn’t let blindness hold him back. Dan brings the positivity and makes you want to enjoy skating as much as he does. Dan is the dude you want on your session.”
