Under An Arctic Sky | Chris Burkard’s upcoming movie about surfing beneath the Icelandic northern lights

Chris Burkard is up to his Icelandic tricks again. This time surfing under a full moon, under the northern lights on the far north coast.

This is what it’s about:

“Six surfers set sail along the frozen shores of Iceland, knowing that the worst storm to hit the country in twenty-five years is about to arrive. Enduring constant darkness and stormy seas, they discover perfect waves and make history by surfing under the northern lights.”

With the help of Sweatpants Media and surfers willing to subject their bodies to extremes, this film is sure to bring some breathtaking moving images.

Last winter we had this crazy idea…To shoot Surfing under the Northern Lights. At first it seemed impossible just to find the guys willing to buy into such a crazy idea & the technology to shoot it. But typically anything worth doing feels a bit crazy at first. . PS none of the images were composited or made with photoshop- they were shot at extremely high ISO during a full moon and peak Aurora.
